South Korea Achieves Best FIFA Women’s Ranking in Over Three Years at 17th

by admin477351

South Korea’s women’s national soccer team has achieved its highest FIFA world ranking in over three years, climbing to 17th place. This advancement comes on the heels of the team’s impressive performance at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where they secured a bronze medal.

The team’s latest ranking marks a two-place improvement from its previous position, returning South Korea to 17th for the first time since June 2023. In the Asian region, South Korea is now ranked fourth, trailing Japan, North Korea, and Australia, while China has slipped to 18th.

South Korea earned its bronze medal after a 2-0 defeat to the host country, Japan, in the semifinals, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory over China in the third-place match. This win is particularly significant as it represents South Korea’s first Asian Games bronze in eight years and their first victory over China in 11 years.

Globally, Spain has maintained its position at the top of the FIFA women’s world rankings, with the United States, Germany, England, and Japan following in the top five positions. FIFA is expected to release its final women’s world rankings for the year on December 7.
