LG Electronics has announced its most successful financial performance for a second quarter, a feat attributed to high demand for its home appliances, vehicle components, and HVAC systems. The company revealed a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, equivalent to $1.04 billion, marking a significant increase of 146.9% from the previous year. Alongside this, revenue rose by 14.9% to reach 23.83 trillion won, exceeding expectations set by the market.
During the first half of the year, LG achieved a record-breaking 47.56 trillion won in revenue and 3.25 trillion won in operating profit. These unprecedented figures were largely due to increased sales in core business areas, enhanced cost efficiency, the expansion of subscription services, the growth of webOS, and stronger online sales channels.
The company’s success was primarily driven by its home appliance, vehicle solutions, and HVAC sectors. There was a notable rise in demand for premium home appliances and automotive infotainment systems, as well as cooling solutions, particularly in Europe where recent heatwaves heightened the need for such products.
LG continues to look towards the future with a focus on investment in growth areas. These include cooling technologies for AI data centers and advanced robotics components, which the company views as essential to maintaining its competitive edge.
